The Dordogne is a popular holiday destination, because of its beautiful nature and rich culture. 'Lit la Fraise ' lies two miles away from Saint Amand de Vergt, a little village between Perigueux and Bergerac. Also two miles away is Vergt, where you can go for a coffee, a meal, grocery shopping or to visit the market.
We have called our house 'Lit la Fraise'. 'Fraise' is the French word for strawberry and 'lit' means bed. The name is like a promise ... dreaming away, soft and summery sweet, like the delicious strawberries this part of the Dordogne is famous for.
Your stay at Lit   la Fraise   will include a delicious breakfast with fresh orange juice, warm French bread, croissants, fresh eggs, yogurt and fruit from our fruit trees.
Lit la Fraise knows a history going back to the middle ages. Despite many restaurations and renovations, you can still find the authentic elements of its journey through time.
On the property is also a chapel. It doesn't look old but used to be the church of the neighbourhood. The chapel shows the house belonged to an important family who owned the surrounding fields.
The house is surrounded by forest and undulating fields. This beautiful area is waiting to be discovered on bike, on foot or by car. The wonderful climate invites to an outdoor lifestyle. The big garden offers many spots where you can enjoy the peace of nature in complete privacy.
